Digital Media Program Teacher (Part-Time)
The Digital Media program assistant is an exciting and important position with Broadcasting Career Mentor. This individual needs to be a team player who is comfortable working with youth, creative, patient, and has an enthusiastic personality.
Responsibilities
Implement digital media programming, including offering suggestions on ways to enhance existing curriculum as well as teaching youth participants.
Coordinate recruitment and retention of all youth participants.
Create and maintain a respectful environment where youth are encouraged to use their creativity along with receiving technical and emotional support.
Stay up to date on social media trends and best practices related to the media program to prepare youth for today's career field.
Coordinate and cultivate relationships with local media professionals to bring in as guest speakers.
Assist in care, set up and break down of equipment before and after program sessions.
Oversee the upkeep of the BCM equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Broadcasting, Communications, Media Arts or comparable professional experience.
A minimum of one year experience working with middle school or high school age youth.
Basic knowledge of video production and post-production tools.
Experience working with media equipment including Sony and Panasonic cameras, tripods and non-linear editing programs (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid, We Video etc.)
Working knowledge of cross platform storytelling.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple program sites.
High level of verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy, and innovative thinking regarding the use of social media platforms.
Must have reliable transportation
This is a part-time position based in Chicago. 10 hours per week in the afternoon/evening.
Pay starting at $20 per hour
